As passionate travellers of the world, we have been expanding our travel horizons since our youth. From the early years of interrailing to our careers as flight attendants, we have used a huge range of vehicles – no matter whether rented or owned. Over the past 12 years, we have had unforgettable adventures in southern Africa with our Namibian-registered Toyota. Our tours have taken us to fascinating places and gifted us memories that we will hold in our hearts forever.

But now, as we prepare for a long journey expected to take several years, we are looking for something more comfortable than a tent and a shovel. We want to travel the world, discover all its wonders and take on its challenges too. That’s why we’ve gone for an expedition vehicle – a true masterpiece where a taste for adventure meets travel comfort.

We first encountered Twiga a few years ago at the Abenteuer & Allrad off-road trade fair in Bad Kissingen. We were immediately won over by the team’s strong presence and enthusiasm – we’ve even kept the business cards to remember the moment our fate and dreams collided. Two years later, the Dutch dealer who we bought our basic vehicle from also raved about Twiga. Although we probably already knew the answer, we began by visiting three different body manufacturers. But ultimately the decision was easy: Twiga would bring our vehicle to life. The quality, dedication, and friendly service that you get from Twiga confirmed our choice all the way through.

During the building phase, we also had to deal with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Borders were closed and we couldn’t drive the vehicle over ourselves. But we refused to give up. We followed the building progress with regular photo updates from Twiga and enjoyed the mounting sense of anticipation step by step, piece by piece. And once the COVID-19 measures had relaxed a bit, we were finally able to see our vehicle with our own eyes and admire it in all its shining glory at Twiga Travelcars.

Today we are at the start of a new chapter in our adventure. We’re still on the starting blocks but we’re so excited to talk about the future. Our journey will hopefully take us to far-flung places and fascinating cultures. We look forward to taking in new surroundings, tasting new dishes, and discovering humanity in all its diversity. It will no doubt be a thrilling and exciting time full of new discoveries and unforgettable experiences.
