Some clients come from farther away than others. A Mercedes 1124 was selected as the basic vehicle for this client from Switzerland. What makes this project unique is the origin of the vehicle. This former fire engine from the client’s own place of residence has been given a new lease of life with a Twiga living unit.
By making it extremely lightweight, we were successful in keeping the total weight below 7500 kg. This means that the client can explore the world in a real Twiga Travelcar with only a C1 driver’s licence.
To keep the unit as lightweight as possible, an aluminium cage construction was chosen, to which the panels are attached from the inside. This prevents leaks and allows the living unit to be used in all weather conditions.
The entire living unit is supported by a steel sub-frame and attached to the chassis with a Twiga three-point suspension. This ensures stability.
